JAVAN
in a news report quotes Mohsen Yahyavi of the Islamic Society of Engineers (ISE) as saying that former foreign minister Ali Akbar Velayati has resigned from the three-member committee (comprising him, former Majlis speaker Gholam-Ali Hadad Adel and Habibollah Asgar-Ouladi of the Islamic Coalition Party to broker unity among principlists in the run-up to the next parliamentary elections). Yahyavi said Velayati acts as senior advisor to the Supreme Leader and he quit the committee to dispel any suspicion that the Leader’s office interferes in elections affairs. Yahyavi, a former Majlis representative, said with the resignation of Velayati the makeup of the committee will change and in the new committee there will be no place for government allies.

TEHRAN-E EMROOZ, in a news report, quotes Ali Razmjou as saying that the IRGC Navy is in full preparedness to defend maritime borders in the Persian Gulf with its short and long-range missiles. Razmjou, an IRGC Navy commander, said the IRGC’s attempts are aimed at enhancing Iran’s defensive capabilities in an effort to maintain security in the Persian Gulf region and to promote peace and friendship among neighboring countries. He also said that the IRGC has the necessary defensive equipment to protect the country, particularly its maritime borders.

SHARQ, in a news report, quotes MP Ali Abbaspour-Tehrani, the Majlis Education and Research Committee chairman, as saying that the committee, in a letter to Science, Research and Technology Minister Kamran Daneshjou, has stated that some discussions have been held about separating the classes of male and female students at universities from the beginning of the new academic year, which starts on September 23. And due to the fact that the ministry has not yet submitted the plan to the Majlis committee, “we decided to send a letter to the minister and ask him to submit the initiative to the committee if such a plan exists,” Abbaspour-Tehrani added.
